Privacy notice
This page explains what happens to the email address you give Better Vue, who else touches it, and how to get it back or get rid of it. It is written to be read rather than to be survived.
Who is responsible for your information
The data controller is Charles Downs, trading as Better Vue.
Post: Flat 13 Bennett House, Marlborough Road, Woking, GU21 5JG
Email: contact@bettervueai.cloud
Better Vue is a product in development. This site exists only to let organisations register interest in early access.
What is collected
The email address you type into the form. That is the only thing this site asks you for, and there are no other fields.
When you submit the form, the service that delivers it (see below) also receives your IP address and the time of submission. That happens automatically as part of sending the message, and it is used to block automated spam.
Separately, simply visiting the site means your browser sends your IP address and basic request details (such as the page asked for and your browser type) to Cloudflare, which serves the site (see below). That is how any website reaches you. It is not used to identify you or tied to your email address.
This site does not ask for your name, your employer, your job title, or anything else. If you choose to tell us any of that in a later reply, it is held on the same basis as your address.
Why, and on what legal basis
Your address is used to tell you when Better Vue opens to new organisations, and occasionally to share how it is developing or to ask what you would want from it. Nothing else. The lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form, and every email carries a one-click unsubscribe.
You can withdraw that consent at any time, and doing so is as easy as giving it — reply to any email, or write to the address above, and the record is deleted. Withdrawing does not affect anything done before you withdrew.
The request details sent when you visit are handled on the basis of legitimate interests: delivering the page to you and protecting the site from attack. They are not used for anything else.
Your address is not sold, rented, shared with advertisers, added to any third-party marketing list, or used to build a profile of you.
Who else handles it
These are the only other parties involved, and what each one does:
- Web3Forms
- Delivers the form submission to our inbox and stores it briefly. Their servers are in the United States. On the free plan, submissions are held for around 30 days and then deleted automatically. They publish a data processing agreement and a privacy policy.
- Spam-prevention services
- Web3Forms may pass your IP address and email address to spam-filtering providers such as CleanTalk or Akismet to determine whether a submission is automated.
- Cloudflare
- Hosts this website. Every visit passes through them, so they receive your IP address and request details, which they use to deliver the page and to protect the site from attack. They never receive your email address — the form posts directly to Web3Forms. Cloudflare is based in the United States and runs data centres worldwide. They publish a data processing agreement and a privacy policy.
- YouTube (Google)
- Hosts the video on the home page. Only involved if you press play — see Cookies below. Google is based in the United States and handles what it receives under its own privacy policy. It never receives your email address.
- Hostinger
- Hosts our email, from the United Kingdom. They do not receive your address at the moment you submit the form, but they do hold it afterwards, because the inbox Web3Forms delivers to is hosted by them. Their backups are kept in Germany.
Information leaving the UK
Because Web3Forms operates from the United States, your address and IP address are transferred outside the UK. That transfer relies on the safeguards set out in their data processing agreement, linked above. If you would rather not have your details transferred, do not use the form — write to the postal address instead.
Cloudflare usually answers a visit from a data centre near you, but as a United States company it may process request details there. That transfer relies on the safeguards set out in their data processing agreement, linked above. If you press play on the video, YouTube may likewise process your IP address in the United States.
Your address then rests in an inbox hosted in the United Kingdom, backed up in Germany. Germany is in the European Economic Area, which the UK treats as offering equivalent protection, so that copy needs no separate safeguard.
How long it is kept
Until Better Vue opens and you have been told, or until you ask for it to be deleted — whichever comes first. If the product never launches, the list is deleted. Addresses are not kept indefinitely against some future use.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking of any kind. Nothing is loaded from any third party until you do one of two things: submit the form, or press play on the video.
The video is hosted on YouTube. Until you press play, the page shows a still image stored on this site and YouTube is not contacted at all. Pressing play loads YouTube's player in its privacy-enhanced mode. From that point YouTube receives your IP address and may store information on your device, as it does wherever its videos play. If you would rather it didn't, don't press play — nothing else on the page depends on the video.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to:
- see a copy of what is held about you
- have it corrected if it is wrong
- have it deleted
- restrict or object to how it is used
- receive it in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time
Write to contact@bettervueai.cloud. There is no form to fill in and no charge. You will get a response within one month.
